ENGLISH FALLS

English Falls is a short, sweet and challenging trail. Descend from the Blue Ridge Parkway less than a quarter mile to one of the most unique waterfalls in North Carolina.

The trail starts directly off the Blue Ridge Parkway at an unsigned and unmarked trailhead just past a wooden guardrail with parking for just a few vehicles. Follow one of the several paths down the gorge, until you reach the steep rock ledges. There may be existing ropes/cables in place. I DO NOT recommend using these but instead bring your own rope to descend with. You will arrive at the base of an incredible moss covered, steep, multi-drop waterfall. You can follow the creek down the mountain for more small cascades.

Head back up the way you came in, be careful ascending and descending the trail to English Falls. The rocks around the base of the falls are slippery. People have been seriously injured here. Avoid this hike in wet and slippery conditions, it will severely damage the trail and possibly yourself. This short hike is only directly accessible from the Waterrock Knob Visitor Center parking lot when the Blue Ridge Parkway is open.

The trailhead has very limited parking (1-2 vehicles) directly on the roadside of the Blue Ridge Parkway near mile marker 322. Pull off past the guardrail on your right after mile marker 322 if you are traveling North.
