I’m Andrew and I love spending my time outdoors. A life long native of Asheville, North Carolina I feel as though I was raised by these mountains. I enjoy hiking, camping, exploring the high peaks and photographing waterfalls and natural sights of the region. Exploring the trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway has been a favorite past time of mine for as long as I can recall. Being outdoors was always a big part of my life and I hope to keep exploring and finding new places for a long time to come.

A Walk in the Woods was created to help me catalog my adventures and hiking trips in a more organized way. Hopefully others will be able to benefit from the information I have put together on this website with planning trips and finding new hiking trails. Enjoying the outdoors safely and with confidence is something that everyone should get to experience and I am glad to share it with you.

You’ll find me all over trails in NC, SC, TN and VA year round. My favorite area to explore is the Shining Rock Wilderness in Western North Carolina, my childhood stomping grounds. Every time I am lucky enough to step out into the woods I am renewed by a sense of awe for our incredible wild places.
